After another late late night with Dieck in his basement we rocked a master of the disc to be sent out to discmakers. Now its just a matter of some cash to get them pressed. There’s no real news other than that, but I’ll post a picture of me dressed as a clown when I get home tonight if I’m not too busy playing guitar hero 3(which I will be)

I just checked the stats on how much I have to give Jesse Gimbel for the download of his song “Drying Out Pages”

$3

Really guys? Only $3? And one of those is from me when I tested to make sure the download worked, and another is from my friend who I told to download it to also test it. The third is from Nick, and of course he downloaded it- that kid’s here more than I am.

Get your head in the game, kids. Jesse’s got bills to pay.

First, I’d like to preface this by saying that  have no real reason to keep naming my posts as modified Jurassic Park quotes, but I also don’t see any end of it in site. Maybe I’ll move on to a different movie, but for now I hope you love Jurassic Park as much as I do.

Secondly, I’ve been spending the day shouting at my computer as I try to develop the layout of this site further. It’d be easier if I knew PHP and HTML better, or ya know, at all. The short term goal I’ve been failing at for days now is to get the posts to stop wrapping around the nav bar on the right.

As always when I work on the site I alternate between feeling like a genius and feeling like a regular non-genius. I really hate the latter, and wonder how people go through life without being brilliant. (My lord I’m conceited.)

Anyway, with any luck the page will only improve as I figure out how to actually write PHP code. Or I’ll blow up my computer.

So yeah, when I said before that the forums were working… I meant the were sort of working. Somewhere between installing them the first time and fixing that silly sidebar-overlapping issue I managed to break the forums, so I had to delete them and reinstall them. Sadly, the rousing conversation between me and Nick was lost forever. Ah well. We’ll just have to come up with more witty banter.

But the moral of the story is that they work for real now, and don’t even have the sidebar on top of them. I know it’s awesome.

You know what else is awesome? “Night after Night” by The Sounds . I’m just sayin.

So I finally got the forums working again, but alas, I cannot get it to fit on the page the way I want it and I must now get ready and leave for work.

The forums do work, but you’ll just have to try to ignore the fact that the sidebar is floating over it for now until I can figure out how to fix that. Hopefully it’ll be done tonight, but who know, if it’s slow at work tonight I might even be able to fix it while I’m there, ya know, since I have an iPhone. HA HA HA HA HAH AH A HA HA HA HA HA

Dieck in battle Brian
vs
Glen Samurai Glen

Last night after making some minor corrections to the DVD menus Dieck and I embarked on the task of producing a Filmkid, LLC video logo to put at the beginning of things. We both liked the picture I’ve used as the header for Filmkid and wanted to work off that as the idea.

My suggestion was to take that picture, bring it into After Effects, have it move a bit, throw in some spot-light effects and call it a day.

Dieck’s suggestion was to take a hi-res scan of the notebook I photographed, angle it in 3D to the view it was in the photograph, type the text with a font that looks like handwriting (none of those fonts ever actually look like handwriting), do about a million other things to make a virtual version of the notebook look like the real notebook that I had already photographed at the angle we wanted to use.

Basically we wanted the same end result just to go about it completely differently, which is actually kind of a recurring theme between us. The result of this is that Dieck’s position is that of quality control where things I do end up looking much better than they otherwise would. Thus, I love Brian Dieck.

Several hours and a few minor arguments and compromises later we ended up with a logo we were both really happy with. You’ll be able to see it on the DVD.

Anthony Michael Sansosti/Spiderman

Ever sit around wondering what it would look like if Kristin Sansosti(formerly Kristin Tickle) and Mike Sansosti (formerly not my brother-in-law) had a baby?

<– That answers that question.

Meet my first nephew, Anthony Michael “Bebo” Sansosti, and his new friend Baby Spiderman. Both of them are adorable.

This morning I got a text message from my (formerly) very pregnant sister Kristin at around 7:45am. I didn’t even check it because I knew what it was. I then got the same message from my mom ten minutes later, and then again from my dad about twenty minutes after that. Somewhere around 8:10 my wife got the same message from my mom, but she actually checked it. Sure enough I was right and Kristin finally popped- unleashing this adorable little thing into the world.

After my uneventful dentist visit (I was told to floss more, he was told to shut up) I called my sister to find out which hospital she was in so I could go visit. Not wanting to go empty handed I hit the toy store to find a toy for my now 6 hour old nephew.

They don’t make very many toys for 6 hour olds.

After scouring a disappointingly sparse selection I found Spiderman & Friends 24-Hour Super Pal Spiderman and wanted to get it more for myself than for the baby, but it was recommended for 18 months and older, and is also about twice the size of Anthony Michael Sansosti. I ended up getting a set of much smaller toys; wooden versions of baby Spiderman, Wolverine, Captain America, and The Incredible Hulk. The idea here is to get him started early with being a huge nerd so that we’ll have something to talk about later in life when I have to babysit him. The other idea is that he is adorable.

Steph and Anthony, both adorable.Steph even came to visit the little guy, and can be seen here making a silly face. Anthony can’t be seen so well because that kid loves, and I mean LOVES his hospital-issue ducky blanket. He also loves hiding his face, and holding his arms up in the air. This is either an attempt to say he surrenders, or an impersonation of “Cornholio” from Beavis and Butthead, but since he was born today and that show died ten years ago I doubt it’s the latter.

The kid slept for the entirety of my visit with the rare exception of occasionally pooping and trying to get some Kristin-boob-action, but nonetheless he was fun and adorable.

If you’re wondering about the specs on the kid he was born at (I think Kristin said) 7:37 am October 23rd, weighing in at a solid 7lbs 6ounces OR “Not even as much as eight Hungry Man dinners” as Mike Sansosti pointed out to me. His head is surprisingly big (Anthony’s head, not Mike’s) and his doctor pointed out that his package is bigger than average (again, Anthony’s, not Mike’s. And ladies, he’s single.)

He should be out of the hospital on Thursday and then he has a full life of living with Kristin and Mike and being related to me.

It should also be noted that he a) got me out of work today, and b) totally stole my thunder about finishing the DVD. “Oh look at me I was born”

Happy birthday Anthony Michael Sansosti.

Love,
Uncle Glen

DVD = DONE

Well, it’s done barring any gliches I find while I play with the DVD ALL FREAKING DAY TOMORROW to make sure there’s nothing wrong with the disc. But the menus are assembled, the links have been checked, the editing is finished, the songs are in, etc. We should be getting the disc out to Discmakers this week and should then get it back in about 3 more weeks then it’ll be available for sale. Oh the waiting. But at least the F’ing disc is done!

Good FREAKING night.

Alright, sorry about the layout madness yesterday. Filmkid was taken over by pirates*. OK, just one, but still taken over. But we’re back to a more suitable layout. We might be pulling a Jones Soda and start using user-sumbitted photographs for that banner, or have some kind of contest. We’ll see in the coming weeks. Right now the big focus is getting the DVD done, but the immediate focus is a nap because Dieck and I have not gone to sleep before 2am in the last week and a half

g’night!
*If you didn’t check the site yesterday; first, shame on you. Second, I used a picture of my film professor Fred Strype dressed as a pirate as a temporary banner.
