Dillema starts and wraps shooting!
by filmkid on Jan.27, 2008, under Filmkid News
Today we shot “Dilemma” based on one of Zach Cranor’s “Last Place Comic”
It came out wicked good looking and a rough cut will be done tonight thanks to the magic of a tape-free workflow. With a case of beer and around $50 we managed to negotiate a days worth of use with several thousands of dollars worth of equipment, because we’re just that good.
Expect the rough cut soon.
Getting back in the game

With all this business about forming as an LLC, releasing the DVD, having parties, having day jobs, etc. it’s been far too long since Filmkid’s actually popped out a movie. Well all that’s about to change.
Sunday Jan 27th we’ll be shooting ‘Dilemma’ a short (and I mean short, that script’s barely a page long) film based on the greatest web comic ever* – Last Place Comics by Zach Cranor.
Zach is a genius and we’re jumping on that action while the going’s good.
As of right now we’re doing this is classic Filmkid $0 budget fashion barring any major changes. If we get a budget I’ll expand the script, but for now it exists in all its barebones glory.
So look forward to that with great enthusiasm.
Barter; (v) To trade goods or services

Several people have expressed to me that they want a copy of the movie, but for various reasons are unable or unwilling to pay $17 for it. While I think this is silly I am sensitive to the blight of others in this dying economy so I offer the follow challenge:
If you don’t think the movie is worth $17- offer us something else.
That’s right. Barter for it. Are you a musician? Send us a CD. Painter? Paint us something. Etc. In the interest of fairness though we’d like a preview first. Afterall, we’ve got the trailer up here so you at least have some idea of what you’re getting.
So go post in the forum under the Barter section with what you’re offering and if we’re interested we’ll give you the greenlight to send it along. When we get it I’ll shoot you back a copy of the movie.
Marketing is a lot of leg work- and I have a limp.

Since today is my first real day off from my crappy day job since the release parties it also starts my one-man marketing onslaught of the greater Phillipsburg area. If you are a business that sells DVDs and you live in a reasonable driving distance from me then you can expect a visit- or several- I’m persistent.
And a quick note about the new banner photo; Some people may think it’s immature to put a sticky note on your friend’s back while he’s talking to a former major studio employee at you DVD release party… Me… well I get people to photograph it and make it the first thing you see on my website.
How about that noise.
Filmkid.com just got way more handsome.

If you’re wondering, and I’m sure you are, the two guys in the photo above are (from left to right) Kevin Victorella- star of Cigarette Break, and me Glen Tickle- writer/director of all things Filmkid
The picture was taken by my wife at the wedding of Kevin’s sister. More photos are available in the section of the site.
New Year, New Look
by filmkid on Jan.01, 2008, under Filmkid News
Due to a slew of complications I was having with the old theme and getting things to work the way I wanted them to I’ve switched to this shiny new one. If you’re reading this and seeing snow flakes or whatever the banner picture is just be patient, it will go away and be replaced by something delicious soon.
Anyway, Happy New Years everyone. I think Filmkid LLC will resolve as a company to start shooting another feature by the end of the year… or kill itself (the company, not its employees)
Hope you like the new look.
