Due to a slew of complications I was having with the old theme and getting things to work the way I wanted them to I’ve switched to this shiny new one. If you’re reading this and seeing snow flakes or whatever the banner picture is just be patient, it will go away and be replaced by something delicious soon.

Anyway, Happy New Years everyone. I think Filmkid LLC will resolve as a company to start shooting another feature by the end of the year… or kill itself (the company, not its employees)

Hope you like the new look.

Several Ways to Die Trying is a dark comedy about Dart Mark, a young man with writer’s block on his suicide note. Dart has resolved not to kill himself until he can finish his note and leave something memorable behind. CAST & CREW
Check out the Filmkid(s) section of the site for info on the cast, crew, and friends of Several Ways to Die Trying.

And the bad news:

I posted the Several Ways to Die Trying page here because for some reason it’s not working in its proper place. As a result several people have complained about the lack of trailer, etc.

Well here’s my temporary fix. Expect a more permanent solution when I have time to come up with one. But for now the ancillary pages of Filmkid.com are not working. Thankfully that does not include the storea- which works perfectly.

Please buy many things.

And it’s official. Our baby is out in the world. We’ve raised it the best we could with several edits and some music changes, but now it’s time to kick the little freeloader out of the nest so it can go get a job and start taking care of its folks.

Tuesday night was our big send off in New York City, and by ‘big send off’ I mean complete disaster. Well, maybe not complete, but certainly more disastrous than we had originally anticipated. Hey, at least we got some decent photos out of the deal.

There’s me chatting up these two super-fine ladies I met at the bar for the first time. They were total strangers, and I am not married to the one of the right, nor do I run a business with the other. No no. Total strangers. And they dug me. I am a chick-magnet.

The highlight of the evening was Jesse Gimbel rocking the suburbs urb.

Jesse Gimbel

We’d met once before and talked online and on the phone quite a bit about his involvement in the movie and future collaborations, but it wasn’t until I spent almost all of the two days of the release parties in a car with the kid that it became clear just how perfectly suited he is to work with us on everything we ever do for the rest of our lives.

Get used to the “Music by Jesse Gimbel” credit at the beginning of things.

Jeff White

Jeff White (aka Lucky, bka “That creepy guy from the movie”) even showed up for a bit looking mighty trim and mustached. Also a name you’re likely to see in Filmkid credits to come.

For more pictures check out the new Gallery section of Filmkid, which right now only has pictures from the release parties, but will soon have so much more. Also, if you were at the parties and took pictures send them to filmkid at gmail.com and I’ll post them if I like them. (Note, I tend to love pictures of myself)

Then there was night two! Of which I presently have no photos, but I do have video that will be edited together and posted sometime after Jesus’sbirthdaymas. Highlight of the video? Jesse Gimbel and my pal Steve Hoydis double teaming some guitars.

So thanks to everyone who made it out to the parties, and everyone who didn’t will not be thanked unless they have already or will be purchasing a DVD and/or T-shirt. (Thank yous aren’t free, kids.)

Enjoy life.

Dec 20

I’ve got some photos up from the parties in the new Gallery section of Filmkid.com so check that noise out.

All said and done it was a pretty successful couple of days and a nice kick off to the release of the DVD.  Expect a full write-up probably later tonight. But for now, at least there are photos

Tonight was much better.

Details to follow.

Just got back from the insane commute home from the first night of the two night release party extravaganza.

Jesse played an amazing set. Jeff White made a brief but much appreciated appearance. A few people actually made it out. We sold a few copies of the movie (I wish I was being modest here, but I’m not) and a T-shirt (yes, sadly, singular)

But all the free stuff went and we managed to get the movie and Filmkid brand name out there to at least a few people.

Round 2 is tomorrow night, or- since I’m writing this at 4 in the goddamn morning, later today, and I’m hoping the local crowd comes through and shows up in droves.

Did I mention Jesse Gimbel played an amazing set? Well he did.

Lisa

Sad news for all the 14 year old girls who watch Several Ways to Die Trying and want Dan to kill himself over them. He’s taken by Lisa(above). The better news is that she looks great in a Die Trying T-shirt.

So don’t worry ladies. You can’t have Dan, but you CAN have a drawing of him on a T-shirt and be just like Lisa. Then maybe someday you too can be dating an actor/writer/karate instructor/Spiderman-wanna-be like Dan.

But that’s only possible if you buy a shirt from the Filmkid Store

christmas 1

Oh man! Santa came early and he got me just what I wanted- A whole bunch of boxes of Several Ways to Die Trying on DVD! Sweet freakin’ deal!

I’m here to share the love, so head on over to the store, and order a bunch of DVDs!

Or Christmas will be cancelled.

Christmas 2

They look great under a Christmas tree, kids.

flyer_release_party.jpg

Here’s the details for the party(s). I know that the flyer might make you think we’re having them at The Max(yes, a Saved by the Bell reference) but as promised they’re at Corio Restaurant and Lopatcong Fire Dept.

Even better news- Jesse Gimbel is playing both parties! Come here the first Filmkid-inspired song “Drying Out Pages” played live. Twice. You can even be part of the music video which we’ll be filming at he parties. So wear something sexy, we’ll be shooting.

Hope to see you theres.

I don’t know if you use it, but Google Checkout is now an option in the store. If you do a lot of online shopping it’s probably worth it to sign up. The important thing to remember here is that I am a huge fan of Google, and actually felt guilty about using Wordpress over Blogger to run this site. So I’m happy to finally be bringing a little Google back.
