Ôªø Filmkid LLC
Nov 22

It’s that time of year again, where Americans look at their lives and reflect on all the things they’re thankful for. Since I’m(Glen is) the only one actually writing these posts on Filmkid.com this will be a list of what I’m thankful for in my professional career. Wander over to glen.filmkid.com for what I’m thankful for in my personal life. But everyone else is welcome to add comments about what they’re thankful for.

Filmkid LLC is officially thankful for the following:
-Each other. We wouldn’t be able to have accomplished any of this without all the people who’ve helped us along the way. So here are the highlights of the long extensive list of the people who helped ud get to this fine level of mediocre achievement: The Stephs Tickle and Bello, Dan Van Winkle, Brian Dieck, Haller, John Holl, Dr. Teeth, Megan Finnegan, her entire family, Rocco Stefani, Jeff White, Jenny Lynn Lundy, Matt and Justin, Ann Lepore, Paul Pittman, Darren Ryan, Steve Perry, Tourmaline, Avery, Jesse Gimbel, Shade… the list goes on and on. If you’re not on the list, we’re still thankful for you because you’re reading this.

-Open Source Software- Without programs like Celtx, Word Press, Zencart, and so many more we wouldn’t be able to afford any of this. Keep free software free by donating to your favorite Open Source program(or by promoting them on your website)

-Fans- It’s weird that we have any fans, but we’re thankful that we do and we love you guys. If you didn’t care about our movies than no one would but us, and that’s masturbatory. So thank you for keeping us from just creatively jerking-off.

Nick & Shaun specifically- I know I just covered these guys in “fans” but they’re on this site more than I am and always give me the feeling that there’s people out there interested in what we’re doing- even if they’re the only two posting anything about it here on the site.

-The Bands- Tourmaline, Jesse Gimbel, Avery, and Shade. Without them Several Ways to Die Trying would be a lot quieter. Your music makes the movie come alive and without you we’d have probably had to pay a lot of money for music that wasn’t as absolutely perfect for the movie.

-Discmakers and Filmbaby- Between the insanely good deal we’re getting with Discmakers to have the DVDs produced, and the insanely great distribution venues set up by Filmbaby, Several Ways to Die Trying is getting a legitimate world-wide DVD release.

-Viewers Like You, and everyone you know- If you’ve ever seen our movies, told anyone about our movies, bought a copy of a movie, worn a pin for Die Trying,  looked us up because you used to live in the town we shot it, etc. we are greatly and deeply appreciative and thankful for your existence. Our best and only real chance of getting the word out about Filmkid and our movies is the people who like them. So tell a friend.

We’re appreciative of everyone who reads this.

Jill Finnegan is the new love of my life. She got the ball rolling with the pre-orders by placing the first one and they’ve been rolling in at a slow but steady pace ever since. I’m amazed at how well this is working out.

There’s also an exciting new marketing campaign we’re planning, but as of right now it’s super-secret, but we’ll need a committed street team. Any takers?

Things are finally in place and we can start taking pre-orders for the DVD release of Several Ways to Die Trying!

Head over to www.filmkid.com/zencart and order away!

All pre-orderers get free shipping on their order and I’ll even sign it for you.

The tentative shipping week is December 4th-11th, but that’s subject to change. We’ll have an exact date for you once Dismakers gives us a date we can expect the discs back.

You can also expect bonus packages of things we’ll be getting made up in the next few weeks. Supplies are likely to be limited on those, and we don’t forget who loves us. If you pre-order the disc you get first crack at things like T-shirts, buttons, Official SWTDT razors and Vitamin E!

Right now we’re only taking payments via Paypal, but in the near future we’ll be taking credit cards and checks as well.

So order early, and order often.

Here are the new button designs for the DVD release:

Kiss button

and

not the fall

Have an idea for a button? Make one we like and get a FREE copy of the DVD and the full set of buttons. Yeah, I know. It’s awesome. Just make the files 3in X 3in, 300 dpi with a half inch border for the bleed and jpg.

You can post your submissions in the forums under “Button Submission”.

Personally, I’m looking forward to any and all Matt Ziegel submissions, but don’t doubt Nick or Shaun’s ability to come up with greatness either.

I know what you’re thinking. “Glen, I love Filmkid.com so much that I want to buy things from it. How can I give you my hard earned money?”

Well faithful Filmkid.com reader(Nick, Shaun, and Rocco) I give you http://www.filmkid.com/zencart/ Yep. Now Filmkid.com has it’s own online store thanks to the cats at Zencart. I’m still working out the finer points of running an online store, so there’s not much up there just yet. In fact there’s only two products listed as of this post.

1. Pre-orders for the DVD (which you can’t order just yet, but soon, I promise.)

cover

2. The buttons we had made for the premiere (and there’s only four of them. Act now, while supplies last)

button

So there you go. Since we don’t have the bank account for Filmkid LLC set up just yet we can’t offer the pre-orders for the DVD, or really anything else. And we can only accept money via paypal, but when the accounts are all in place we’ll be able to take direct CC orders and checks and whatnot.

The buttons are just a test, and the four that are for sale have been recently harvested from the lapels of some of my suit jackets so you’re not really getting them from Filmkid LLC, you’re getting them from me.

If you want a little piece of Filmkid history then check out the store and get a button so I at least know it’s working.

Last night Dieck and I split a much deserved bottle of Double Bastard Ale to celebrate finally getting the DVD finished. After literally years of work the movie is as done as it’s ever going to be. We burnt the master and it’s ready to go off to Discmakers as soon as we get some of the final paperwork in order. (Silly things like setting up a bank account for Filmkid, getting money to put in said account, etc.) But at least it’s only a slight delay and we know how to get over this one.

Feels good to be done. Now it’s time to start this mess all over again with Grim Mary.

*sigh*

While filming we jokingly came up with titles for the never-would-be sequel to Several Ways to Die Trying. My favorite was “Even More Ways to Die Trying” followed closely by “Several Ways to Die Harder”.

Whatever the fake name you want to give it here’s the plot of the sequel:

A director and an editor want to kill themselves because they can’t fix a damn layer break on their DVD and release their movie to the world after two freakin years.

Tomorrow we’ll be finished, even if the disc doesn’t work and looks like crap it’s done. I’m sending it to Discmakers Thursday morning in the condition it’s in by the time I leave Dieck’s Wednesday night- or I’m blowing myself up.

I’ve decided to keep my personal business out of the Filmkid.com News section, so I’ve set up glen.filmkid.com for those of you who are interested in anything I have to say not directly related to my writing/filmmaking “career” Yes, in quotes because as of yet I haven’t made dime one.

As promised, here’s me as a clown.Glen Clown, Eric Super Trooper

Yes, even as a clown I wear suits. This was fairly late into the evening so the make-up had seen better days, but truthfully of all my clown-related skills (juggling, big feet, etc.) face painting is not my best. In an homage to Caesar Romero* I also didn’t shave the facial hair before applying the grease paint.

Oh, who’s the cat jumping into the picture you ask? Why Eric Smith of course. There’s this great story about how I stole his girlfriend and married her, but you can find that elsewhere on the web. (Like at I Sure Do which will soon enough be here at Wordpress[sorry google])

Eric turned 25 on Saturday so to celebrate we dressed silly and drank. I got him a great present, but unfortunately forgot it here at home. This is cause for another trip to Philly where I may or may not dress up like a clown, but I’ll almost definitely be dressed in a suit.

*Oh, you thought I was going to explain who Caesar Romero was. No. You’re online. Look it up.
